Interview Producer: The Drum – Sydney

The Drum is a lively, thought-provoking and engaging discussion program covering the news and issues of the day. the hosts moderate discussions with an ever-changing panel from all sides of the political and social spectrums. From politics to sports and everything in between, The Drum provides views and analysis on the stories behind the news.

We are looking for a Interview Producer to book guests, prepare research briefs and contribute to the planning and content for the program. If you are passionate about news and current affairs, we want to hear from you.

Key Accountabilities:

*Under limited supervision, identify and book program guests for The Drum.
*Conduct pre interviews and prepare research briefs for presenters.
*Co-ordinate guest bookings with the ABC News 24 and network planning teams.
*Forward plan guest bookings to ensure guest panels are completed in a timely manner.
*Maintain a high level understanding of current events and issues, monitoring a wide range of media outlets/sources; develop and foster a wide network of contacts and sources.
*Prepare and produce program content such as overlays/grabs/slabs.
*Liaise closely with the rest of the ABC News 24 team to ensure Drum content remains relevant, newsworthy and timely.
*Actively promote the ABC values and apply all relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and Work Health & Safety.

Selection Criteria:

1.Demonstrated strong editorial capabilities and experience, preferably in electronic media.
2.Experience or ability in planning and guest booking for daily news programming.
3.Strong organisational and communication skills and understanding of production processes.
4.Demonstrated understanding of ABC News programming.
5.Proven ability to influence, develop and guide team members; demonstrated experience working in a team environment and under pressure.
6.Able to produce clear, strong, editorial content and backgrounders with a high level of accuracy and in accordance with Editorial Policies and Style Guides.
7.An understanding of and commitment to the ABC`s aims, objectives and workplace values, together with relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and Work Health & Safety.
